Item Details
- Harris® 26 Alloy 1/8" Dia x 14" Aluminum Maintenance Electrode comes in a 5 lb. tube. It is great for foundry defects, machining errors and all types of salvage work. Electrode is ideal for fabrication and repair of cast and wrought aluminum. Electrode features a precise combination of core wire and coating that offers high speed deposition of dense, machinable welds. It is widely used on sheets, tubes and extrusions in thicknesses of 1/8" or more. Electrode has tensile strength up to 34000 psi and is well-suited for torch application. All position electrode features great electrical conductivity, good color match and corrosion resistance. It requires preheat of 5000 deg F for good results and is encouraged on sections greater than 1/8". Clean with hot water and add 10% sulphuric acid to water if additional cleaning is needed. Slag is easily removable and should be brushed or chipped before multiple passes. It uses DC-reverse polarity.
Features
- Produces strong, porosity-free welds without excessive spatter or fuming
- Precise combination of cored wire and coating, providing high speed deposition of dense welds
- Good corrosion resistance
- Good electrical conductivity
- Silver color is a good match to aluminum
- Machinable
- All position welding
- Tensile strength 34,000 psi
- On heavy sections, joints should be beveled to form a 60 degree to 75 degree
- Pre-heat heavy sections to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C) to flatten bead and reduce amount of amperage required
- Widely used on sheet metals, tubes and extrusions for thicknesses of 1/8 in. (3.2 mm) or more
