Harris® Stay-Silv® 15 phos-copper brazing alloy filler metal .050" x 1/8" flat x 20" long rod in a 5 lb. tube is the industry standard for air conditioning/refrigeration applications. Stay-Silv® 15 can also braze copper-to-copper and copper-to-brass with an appropriate brazing flux. Its melting range is useful in filling wider clearances where close fit-up does not exist and where agitation and vibration in service is involved, while providing good service ductility. Conforms to the EU Reach and RoHS directive.
Features
Popular choice for brazing copper used in air conditioning and refrigeration applications
Wide melting range allows operators to fill loose connections and cap or build-up around finished joint
Flows into tight connections when heated above its liquidus temperature
Excellent for situations where close fit-up does not exist and where thermal expansion and service vibration are involved
Flux not required for copper brazing as it is self-fluxing
Can be used to braze brass or copper-to-brass with the use of appropriate brazing flux
Suitable for brazing low nickel (10% maximum) copper/nickel base metals
Not recommended for brazing steel or other ferrous metals due to sufficient lack of joint ductility
Recommended joint clearance of 0.003" - 0.006" (0.08 mm - 0.15 mm)
Conforms to the EU Reach and RoHS directive
Specifications
ANSI/AWS A5.8 Class BCuP-5
ASME SFA 5.8 Class BCuP-5, QQ-B-654A BCuP-5
Applications
Brazing copper-to-copper and copper-to-brass with appropriate brazing flux.
HVAC and refrigeration applications.
Filler metal is excellent for situations where close fit-up does not exist and where agitation and vibration in service are involved.
Caution
Before use, read and understand the manufacturer's instructions, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and your employer's safety practices
Keep your head out of fumes
Use enough ventilation, exhaust at the flame, or heat source, to keep fumes and gases from your breathing zone and the general area
